Project- Movie Poster Design
Objective- Create a poster for a fictitious movie
Process-

Movies have been one of my many favourite popular media to explore. Discovering the task of this project was exciting and intimidating, as I anticipated all the different elements that were needed to produce this kind of content. However, through careful instruction I gradually learned the tools to make an intriguing movie poster that I was proud of.
This process began with investigating various different kinds of movie posters and observing how the right images can accurately convey the theme of any given film. Next, the brief called to develop a story line, title and characters to flesh out the plot. An important detail to note in the required layout was that environment rather than characters needed to be emphasized in the composition. This was my first experience with 'photo bashing' and quickly learned the method of this technique to build an environment.
In addition, like most movie posters a striking and eye catching title was needed. In order to do this, I diligently followed and absorbed instruction to apply my own treatment and effects to my film title.  Through additional exploration on my own,  I also sought out video tutorials on how to achieve different looks. Through these newly acquired skills, I discovered how to "bash" images together to create cohesive environment. Using the eraser tool to decrease opacity in one image and bring out another image underneath, I created the effect of one piece of a setting. Complementing this technique, I was able to make use of different blending modes as well to further add a certain effect. I completed this piece by adding the appropriate font for the credits, the studio logos and rating level graphic for viewers.
I enjoyed this project immensely and found great interest in creating a scene entirely from my imagination through the proper manipulation of photos. I eagerly look forward to developing this kind of digital work again in the future.
